April prepares her green traffic light and the world thinks Go.
Christoper Morley

April is here, way faster than we had planned for, but we welcome the sunshine and warmer days. It is definitely go time. We have a little bit more pep in our step in the mornings and some extra energy in the evenings, thanks to the longer days.

We hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating Easter with your families and loved ones.

Spin your wheels with some trivia

What day honoring trees is celebrated in April?

March Trivia: As most of the country jumped forward 1 hour on March 12th, which states do not observe Daylight Savings Time?

Answer: Groundhog Day. The Punxsutawney Groundhog celebration was only canceled once in all the years of its existence. The tradition started in 1887 and was canceled in 1943 due to World War II.

Giving back

The Surprise Squad visited Nala, a 9-year-old girl who was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer. Her family recently found out that her cancer is terminal, and the Surprise Squad showed up to get them some help. Sadly, Nala passed away less than two weeks after we visited them. Please wrap your arms around this family and send your prayers up for them: WATCH HERE.

Do you know someone you would like to nominate for the Surprise Squad? Hop onto the website and tell us about them.

Birthday Cheer!

To everyone celebrating their birthday in April, we wish you balloons, candles, and birthday magic. May the confetti rain down and your day be wonderful.

Health and Wellness Break

How many times a day do you forget where you put something down? Here is a little tip to help you remember and keep your brain sharp.

If you put something down temporarily, say it out loud. (“I’ve put my phone on the dresser.”) “This engages many more areas of the brain (particularly the language centers), which creates a richer memory and makes it less likely you’ll forget where you put it.”

“I’ll also say it out loud when I turn off stove burners, blow out a candle, or unplug my hair straightener. I’ve found this helps me eliminate those moments where I leave the house or am in bed, and I’m suddenly like, ‘Did I leave that on?'”

3 Simple Everyday Life Hacks

1. Store natural peanut butter upside down so it won’t separate as much. “It will bring the oil to the top and make it a lot easier to mix!”

Allergies… or something else?

If you have already ordered the maximum number of home COVID tests, remember you can still go to the website to find out important information on testing and insurance.

This Day in History

April 6, 1896 – After a break of 1500 years, the first Olympics of the modern era was held in Athens, Greece.

I think that no matter how old or infirm I may become,
I will always plant a large garden in the spring.
Who can resist the feelings of hope and joy
That one gets from participating in nature’s rebirth?”
